The Clerk to Parliament, Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror, has called on the Ghana Police Service to support the successful organisation of the Democracy Cup, as the trophy tour continues ahead of Friday’s historic encounter. Presenting the trophy on behalf of the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, Mr. Djietror said the engagement with the Inspector-General of Police, COP Christian Tetteh Yohuno, was intended to deepen cooperation between Parliament and the Police Service, particularly in ensuring the safety and security of spectators and participants. He also extended an invitation to the IGP to witness the match at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi. COP Christian Tetteh Yohuno welcomed the initiative and assured Parliament of the Ghana Police Service’s full support before, during and after the match to ensure a peaceful and orderly event. The IGP also expressed appreciation for the presentation of the trophy, describing the gesture as a demonstration of Parliament’s recognition of the important role of the Police Service. The Democracy Cup match between Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak is scheduled for Friday, August 28, 2026, as part of efforts to promote national unity and democratic values through sports.
