The POPVOX-DPP Foundation in collaboration with the House Democracy Partnership has launched Digital Parliaments Project Africa at a capacity training in Ghana’s Parliament. The Digital Parliaments Project Africa is an initiative aimed at strengthening legislative processes across the continent. It also seeks to bridge the gap between research and parliamentary practice in Africa with a focus on enhancing legislative effectiveness and governance outcomes. Speaking at the launch of the project, the Co-Founder and Executive Director of POPVOX-DPP, Ms. Marci Harris noted that the initiative is designed to promote transparency, accountability, and stronger institutional commitment among African Parliaments. she highlighted the growing role of artificial intelligence in shaping legislative work and emphasised on how digitalisation has improved efficiency within the United States Congress. The event brought together representatives from several African parliamentary institutions, including the Parliament of Ghana, Parliament of Botswana, Parliament of South Africa, National Assembly of The Gambia, National Assembly of Senegal, the Pan-African Parliament, Parliamentary Network Africa, AFRIPAL, and the U.S. House of Representatives, as well as Congressional support office. The project is expected to foster collaboration, innovation, and knowledge-sharing to support modern, data-driven legislative systems across the region.
