MINISTER TO ENSURE SUCCESSFUL IMPLEMENTATION OF NEW EPA ACT 1124

The Acting Minister for Environment, Science and Technology, Hon. Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah has indicated that to ensure the successful implementation of the new EPA Act,2025 (Act 1124) six (6) new regulations have been passed by Parliament. Explaining further to the House, Hon. Buah said the regulations include Environmental Assessment Regulations, Effluent Regulations, Air Quality Regulations, Ozone Regulations, Petroleum Regulations and certification of Air Conditioners. Existing regulations, guidelines and manuals have also been revised to align with the new Act. Hon. Buah said this on the floor of the House when answering questions on how the newly passed environmental Protection Authority Act,2025 (Act 1124) is being operationalized and what institutional changes will take place at the EPA to enhance enforcement. He further added that in the area of institutional strengthening and capacity building, the EPA has provided training staff and relevant stakeholders on the new legal requirements, procedures and enforcement tools. He noted that the recruitment of additional personnel as well as opening of new offices in various districts across the country will enhance the operational capacity of the EPA to address the environmental challenges that we are faced with.
