The Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, Hon Hajia Alima Mahama is expected to appear before the House on 30thNovember, 2017 to inform the Members of Parliament on whether the fourth quarter allocation of the 2016 District Assemblies Common Fund has been released to all Assemblies.Member of Parliament for Adaklu, Hon. Kwame Governs Agbodza will pose the question to the Minister. This was listed in the Business Statement arranged for the Ninth Week which will end on Friday, 1st December, 207.
The District Assemblies’ Common Fund is a pool of resources created under Article 252 of the 1992 constitution of Ghana.The constitution mandates Parliament to annually make provision of not less than 5% of the total revenue of Ghana to the District Assemblies for development.
The Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development exists to promote a balanced rural based development through the use of the District Assemblies’ Common Fund.
