CHIEFS AND ELDERS OF DAGBON INFORM SPEAKER OF THE DEMISE OF YA-NA ABUKARI

Chiefs and Elders of Dagbon with The Speaker of Parliament

The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin has urged traditional leaders and Kingmakers of Dagbon Kingdom to let the unfortunate death of the Overlord to unite and bind them as they mourn and look forward to enskin his successor in future. “Let this unite us, focus on the peace and development of Dagbon, our sight should be on tomorrow and not today and the right thing must be done” the Speaker stressed. Rt. Hon. Alban Babin made this statement when a delegation of Chiefs and Elders from the Dagbon Kingdom paid a courtesy call on him to formally inform him of the demise of his Royal Majesty Ya-Na Abukari Mahama II, Overlord of the Dagbon Kingdom and also brief him on the traditional arrangement for the mourning and final funeral rites. The Rt. Hon. Speaker and Members of Parliament are expected to attend the Seventh Day Adua of Ya-Na Abukari on Friday 24th July 2026 at Yendi. The Majority Leader, Hon. Mahama Ayariga, Majority Chief Whip, Hon. Rockson Dafeamekpor, Chairman of the Northern Caucus and MP for Zabzugu, Hon. Umar Alhassan and Clerk to Parliament, Mr. Ebenezer Ahuma Djietror expressed condolences to the people of Dagbon and pledged their support for the funeral of the late Overlord of Dagbon.
