As part of the activities of Speaker Bagbin’s visit to the United Kingdom, he and a team from the Parliament of Ghana were at the Stadium of Light where they advanced discussions about partnership with a prestigious English Premier League football club, Sunderland AFC. Apart from keeping with the immediate plan for the winners of the next Parliament of Ghana's Democracy Cup football competition to play with Sunderland AFC, the ongoing discussion extend far beyond that. These discussions seeks to offer more opportunities for Ghanaian and African football talents to break into the Premier and other globally renowned football leagues.
