
Members of Parliament for both sides of the House have debated on the 24-Hour Economy Authority Bill,2025 after the motion was moved by the Attorney General Minister of Justice, Hon. Dominic Ayine.
Presenting the report of the Committee on Constitution and Legal Affairs, the Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Shaibu Mahama disclosed that the object of the Bill is to establish the 24-Hour Economy Authority to ensure the integrated, sustainable transformation of national systems for economic production, supply chain, marketing and labour power development and to provide for related matters.
Whereas the Majority Caucus were in favour to establish an Authority to have a central control over the implementation of the policy, the Minority side however debated against the establishment of the Authority describing it as unnecessary and duplication of existing institutions.
The Majority Leader, Hon. Mahama Ayariga added that the establishment of the Authority will give hope to the youth and also help in implementing the 24-Hour Economy policy.
At the conclusion, the House adopted the motion and proceed to take the 24-Hour Economy Authority Bill through the consideration stage.
