Palestinian Foreign Affairs Minister Calls On First Deputy Speaker

A delegation from the state of Palestine, led by Hon. Dr. Varsen O.V. Aghabekian, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the State of Palestine, has paid a courtesy call on the first deputy Speaker of Ghana’s Parliament, Hon. Bernard Ahiafor Dr. Varsen stated that the meeting was aimed at strengthening bilateral ties with Ghana adding that there is the need to liberate and legitimize the state of Palestine. She emphasised that Palestine has struggled over the years to gain independence and called for the sovereignty of Palestine. She reiterated her appreciation to Ghana’s President for his statement on the war in Palestine. According to her, peace can be achieved if there is justice. For his part, Mr. Ahiafor indicated that Parliament is pleased to host them. He said Ghana would continue to strengthen the warm ties between the two Nations and highlighted the historical friendship, solidarity, and mutual respect dating back to the era of Kwame Nkrumah. Furthermore, Mr. Ahiafor pointed out that forty metric tons of golden tree cocoa products was recently sent to support civilians as relief to communities facing hardships. He said there is a strong collaboration between the two countries including Trade, Investment and economic exchange. There is also a strong potential in the field of Agriculture, Agribusiness, construction, Manufacturing and services, Mr. Ahiafor emphasized. He said the role of the respective Parliaments are very important in advancing the relationships
