Parliament’s Committee on Lands and Natural Resources has held a public hearing on Ghana’s lithium agreement, bringing together key stakeholders, including government officials, civil society organisations, industry experts, and members of the public. The session aimed to promote transparency, gather diverse perspectives, and ensure national interest is prioritised in the exploitation of the country’s lithium resources. The hearing forms part of Parliament’s oversight responsibility to scrutinise the terms, implications, and long-term benefits of the agreement, particularly on local content, environmental protection, and revenue generation. In attendance was the Speaker of the 7th Parliament, Rt Hon. Prof. Aaron Mike Ocquaye.
