The visit was aimed at strengthening ties between the bank and Parliament while discussing ways to enhance banking services for Members of Parliament, parliamentary staff and the institution as a whole.

In further discussion, Dr. Zakaria underscored NIB's recent financial advancements, highlighting the enhancement of loan packages and banking services tailored for Members of Parliament (MPs) and the broader parliamentary community. Significant improvements include increasing the value of the Salary Loan and Monitoring and Evaluation loan, as well as introducing specialized investment packages for MPs and parliamentary staff. He reiterated the bank's dedication to delivering exceptional customer service, particularly through its exclusive Excel Banking Unit, designed to offer personalized and convenient banking solutions to distinguished clients.

He expressed gratitude to the government for its commitment to recapitalizing the National Investment Bank (NIB), acknowledging the allocation of GHS2.3 billion for this purpose. He appealed for the prompt release of the remaining funds as outlined in the national budget, emphasizing that this financial support is crucial for NIB to enhance its competitiveness and effectively contribute to the national economy. Dr. Zakaria also highlighted the bank's five key strengths: an extensive nationwide presence, a team of skilled professionals, robust leadership, a customer-centric approach, and a steadfast commitment to investing in Ghana's development

In his concluding remarks, the Speaker was confident that NIB was committed to working closely with Parliament, particularly by providing financial services tailored to the needs of MPs and parliamentary staff. He also reiterated that NIB, being fully state-owned, was an investment in Ghana’s future and urged Parliament to support the bank’s growth.

He also emphasized the importance of financial sustainability for MPs and stressed the need to move away from a reliance on government-backed loans for personal financial needs.
