International Cricket Council (ICC) delegation presented the Cricket T20 Men's World Cup to Speaker Bagbin

A delegation from the International Cricket Council (ICC), has presented the Cricket T20 Men's World Cup to the Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Bagbin in Parliament today.

Australia would host this year’s Champions World Edition of the Cricket Tournament from 16th October - 13th November 2022.

Ghana is the last destination of the Cricket Cup tour, hence Parliament House.

MrSpeaker, receiving the Cup, stressed the need for Ghanaians to show interest in cricket too just as they do in other sporting events. “Lets us take up the game just as other countries have done”, Speaker Bagbin noted. He also emphasized the need to focus on acquiring training and obtaining high standard pitches and other cricket accoutrements.

Mad. Patricia Kambarami, the Regional Development Manager for The International Cricket Council indicated to Mr Speaker that the team is dedicated to getting the attention and involvement of female participants in the next tournament.

She said they have the intentions to grow the game, particularly having females in mind, and hinted that their main strategy is to grow the next tournament with 8 Men’s and 8 Women’s teams, and expressed the hope that Ghana will be part of the top eight
