The Committee on Private Member’s Bills and Private Member’s Motions, chaired by a Deputy Speaker, comprises a Ranking Member, a Vice Chairperson, a Deputy Ranking Member, and no more than eleven other Members. The Committee examines Private Member’s Bills for constitutional and procedural compliance, recommends actions to the Speaker, and determines the business schedule for Private Member’s Bills and Motions. It proposes the order of business for each sitting, subject to House approval, and prioritizes and orders Private Member’s business. The Committee submits a weekly business statement to the Business Committee for presentation to the House and performs any other Speaker-directed functions related to Private Member’s Bills and Motions. To fulfill its duties, the Committee may invite the Bill Sponsor and relevant Ministry for hearings.
